Kathryn Hahn is preparing to step into Mother Gothel’s shoes for her upcoming role in the live-action TANGLED.
“I’m just telling people that it feels like I’m in FAME right now. I’m rehearsing in Spain,” she told PEOPLE about her role in the musical movie. “They’re shooting and I’ve been rehearsing. I’ve been singing and dancing. It’s so fun. Never thought at this stage in the game that that’s what I would do.”
Hahn added, “I’m really good at karaoke. I’ve never really sung professionally in anything before [Disney+ series] AGATHA ALL ALONG, which was a treat. So this is a big next step for me.”
“She’s such a fabulous part, Mother Gothel,” she continued. “It’s all things I never thought I would be able to say I did in my life.”
In an interview with Variety at this year’s Disney Entertainment Showcase at D23, Hahn joked, “I love playing Mother Gothel. She’s stunning, hilarious, fab, kind, generous to a fault. Might be overprotective, but that’s because she cares so much.”
Hahn isn’t the only one working hard to prep for her part in TANGLED. Milo Manheim, who stars as Flynn Rider, shared that he was “learning how to hold my breath for five minutes” and “how to ride a horse right now” for the movie during an appearance on LIVE! WITH KELLY AND MARK.

The actor said the “experience has opened up so many doors,” adding, “I’m meeting so many fantastic people, I get to travel the world.”
Twenty-one-year-old Australian actress Teagan Croft is set to star as Rapunzel.
In a video shared at D23, Croft told the audience she was “devastated to be missing D23 with you all, but we’re busy filming in beautiful Spain.”
“We’ve been traveling throughout all of Spain through some very real and very beautiful places,” Manheim added, teasing that more about TANGLED will be revealed in the coming months.
TANGLED has the potential to turn Manheim and Croft into household names, with The Hollywood Reporter noting, “A Disney live-action feature has the potential to become a billion-dollar worldwide hit — the live-action LILO & STITCH was the year’s only billion-dollar hit until Disney’s animated ZOOTOPIA 2 came along. And it can cannonball a relative unknown into instant fame and open plenty of doors.”
TANGLED will hit theaters March 31, 2028.
