History, Math and…spaghetti western music? Welcome to homeschool, Ben and Erin Napier style!
The HGTV stars decided last year to start homeschooling their two daughters Helen, 8, and Mae, 5, as part of the couple’s “We Can Do Hard Things” year and decided to do it again this year.
“Imagine having the best elementary history, Bible, math and poetry teacher ever who tells you stories about the world that make you want to go see them in real life while you listen to spaghetti western soundtracks and that’s homeschool with @scotsman.co,” Erin wrote, giving a shoutout to her husband on Instagram.
The children are in good hands considering Ben has a degree in History and English and was a youth pastor. Erin, with her degree in graphic design, teaches art, language arts and science.
Erin previously admitted that when she was younger that she thought that homeschooling was “weird,” but after her oldest was born and meeting homeschoolers, she found them to be “mature” and “remarkable” and decided that homeschooling would be a good route for the children.

The HOMETOWN TAKEOVER star offered a humorous take on how different her present life is then what she imagined.
Erin posted:
Highschool me who listened to Pearl Jam, wanted to live in a shack near the sea and never thought about ever having children would struggle to understand that yesterday I said these words out loud:
‘Helen please go ring the dinner bell for daddy to come in and make sure Bunny isn’t in the classroom or barn.’ As I sliced fresh homemade sourdough bread wearing OVERALLS.
Runaway rabbits in the classroom aside, the 41-yer-old is cherishing being even more present in her daughters’ lives as they start a second year of homeschool.
She recalled when Helen started kindergarten at a traditional school feeling “her babyhood ending with such finality,” and contrasted how the experience will be as Mae starts kindergarten.
“I’ll be there when she reads a sentence for the first time and she’s so excited to read a book on her own soon,” Napier posted.
“We’ve figured out how to slow down the clock and savor these little years,” she added.
The Napiers are in production of Season 11 of HOME TOWN set to premiere later this year or early 2027.
