JIMMY NEUTRON: BOY GENIUS
Fun-filled family adventure with heart, humor, and great moral messages.
Should You Watch It?
Yes. JIMMY NEUTRON: BOY GENIUS is smart, funny, exciting, and entertaining, but its greatest strength is its moral heart. The story celebrates family love, compassion, self-worth, and the wisdom of appreciating what you have.
The movie also offers many redemptive moments. Characters learn not to judge others by appearances, discover kindness, and realize that getting everything you wish for may not bring happiness. A pro-life message and a good warning about over-indulgence add further substance.
There are some evolutionary comments, mild humor, cartoon action violence, and a fictional threat involving human sacrifice. Still, this is a strongly pro-family film with excellent animation and voice acting. Take your family to see it.
The Story
NO SPOILERS — WE KEEP THE SURPRISESJimmy Neutron is a brilliant boy inventor whose homemade rocket ships and experiments regularly worry his mother, even as his father understands him. When Jimmy and his friends sneak out to a new amusement park, they have such a good time that they wish they did not have parents.
But an alien threat soon changes their minds. Jimmy and the children of Retroville must use their courage and ingenuity to face what has happened to their families.
Is It Any Good?
Four stars means this is an outstanding family film. JIMMY NEUTRON: BOY GENIUS is smartly written, funny, exciting, and poignant at the same time. It has layers of good morals, strong dialogue, and meaningful character growth.
The animation is terrific, using a future-retro style that looks like the 1950s transported into the 22nd Century. The voice acting is also excellent. This is a dramatically rich animated feature that earns its place among great family films.
The Worldview
The movie presents a strong moral worldview centered on family love, compassion, kindness, and self-worth. Jimmy and his friends learn that parents are not merely obstacles to freedom. They are people who love their children, and their absence reveals how deeply children need them.
The film also warns against over-indulgence and teaches viewers to be careful what they wish for. Cindy Vortex learns not to judge a person by appearance and becomes more compassionate and kind. She even helps Jimmy rediscover his self-worth. The parents occupy minor roles, but they love each other and their children.
The movie includes some evolutionary comments and a fictional religious threat involving a “Chicken god” named Poultra. Even so, its many redemptive moments, pro-family message, and pro-life message align strongly with biblical concerns about love, responsibility, compassion, and the value of life.
The film’s longing for family reflects Scripture’s call for children to honor and obey their parents: “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right” (Ephesians 6:1).
