Should You Watch It?

UNLIMITED is a fun, exciting adventure with good performances and a clear Christian message. The story follows a brilliant MIT student caught in a dangerous struggle over a machine that could create unlimited energy. The movie keeps viewers interested, especially at the climax.

Its content concerns are limited to some light fighting, a drug subplot, and two light profanities that sound more reverent than dishonoring. The Christian worldview is direct, but it hardly takes away from the pacing.

If your family includes older children and adults, UNLIMITED is worth watching for its heartwarming story and Gospel-centered message.

The Story

NO SPOILERS — WE KEEP THE SURPRISES

Simon Orwell, an extremely smart MIT student, travels to Mexico to deliver a device he developed with his old professor. After his car is run off the road and a gunman chases him, Simon finds refuge at an orphanage run by American scientist Harold Finch.

Simon soon learns that the professor’s work involves a machine capable of creating unlimited energy. With dangerous people pursuing the device, Simon must decide whether to remain uninvolved or help protect it.

Is It Any Good?

Three stars means UNLIMITED is a good, engaging movie with some noticeable flaws. The production quality is not diminished by the limited budget, and the visuals remain engaging even though the film lacks a cinematic look and feel.

Robert Amaya provides some great laughter as Pedro, while Daniel Owens gives Simon depth and seriousness. The movie has some plot points that do not quite fit correctly, but it holds viewers’ interest, especially at the climax. Overall, it is a fun adventure with good performances and a great Christian message.

The Worldview

UNLIMITED presents a very strong Christian, Biblical worldview. Harold Finch serves as the story’s moral compass, helping those around him make the right choices. He openly shares the love of Jesus and the Gospel, and the film includes many references to Jesus and quoted Scripture.

The movie also presents a Christian running an orphanage, a character coming to know Christ, and corrupt government officials eventually being brought to justice. The review identifies the Christian message as clear and obvious, with little effect on the story’s pacing. It does not identify a significant departure from that Biblical outlook.

The film’s message is that God can work through people facing danger, difficult choices, and a broken past. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son” (John 3:16).
