HOODWINKED TOO! HOOD VS. EVIL
Goofy animated adventure with a clear moral heart.
Should You Watch It?
If your family wants light animated fun with a clear distinction between good and evil, HOODWINKED TOO! is worth the trip for older children and up. The movie is funny, full of adventure, and built around positive lessons about forgiveness, cooperation, and doing the right thing.
The story sometimes becomes too convoluted, and some scatological humor and cartoon violence may not suit every family. The villains are also a little scary for younger children, though the overall tone stays light and goofy rather than intense.
For older children and adults seeking harmless animated adventure with a redemptive moral, see it. For younger or sensitive children, choose something gentler.
The Story
NO SPOILERS — WE KEEP THE SURPRISESThe Happily Ever After Agency fights to stop evil, with help from a comical crew that includes a talking frog, Granny, Red, Wolf, and Twitchy the squirrel.
When an evil witch kidnaps Hansel and Gretel, the agency sends Red and Wolf on a rescue mission. The two must overcome their disagreements, learn to work together, and face a threat that could endanger the world.
Is It Any Good?
Three stars means this is an enjoyable but imperfect animated comedy. HOODWINKED TOO! is funny and full of adventure, with a light, goofy tone that keeps the movie from becoming too intense.
The main weakness is the storyline. It sometimes contains too many storylines at once and becomes convoluted. Even so, the movie’s energetic humor, comic characters, and adventurous premise give families plenty to enjoy.
The Worldview
HOODWINKED TOO! presents a strong moral and light redemptive worldview. It clearly separates good from evil, honors doing the right thing, and gives forgiveness an important place in the story. Red and Wolf must learn to work together, while Granny learns to forgive.
The film also includes a nightclub scene, but the movie condemns it. Its moral direction is therefore positive, even though the comedy includes scatological humor, cartoon violence, and some unusual character portrayals.
The film’s central moral emphasis aligns with Scripture’s call to forgive others: “forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive” (Colossians 3:13).
