There are some big changes on the way for ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL’s veterinarian brothers Siegfried and Tristan Farnon.

“The professional respect is made clear in this series, and I think Siegfried’s own sense of Tristan has stopped him really thinking of him in that way before,” Samuel West, who plays Siegfried, told Radio Times. “Eventually the evidence is clear that he’s turned into a very good vet. He’s been trusted with his official responsibilities and, veterinary wise, he’s had a good war. There is a moment of big change between them, and it’s overdue.”

The actor continued, “If he really loves his brother, he has to let him make his own mistakes. It’s taken him quite a long time to get there, but I do think he’s there now. I have to make a few of my own as well, so it would be churlish of me to deny him the opportunity to learn from his mistakes.”

“I do think there’s a big change in our relationship now,” West said. “There’s a lot of blood under the bridge.”

Per a statement from PBS, “ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL Season 7 returns viewers to the beautiful Yorkshire Dales in 1946. With the war finally over, Skeldale House is full once again and livelier than ever as our beloved characters reunite under one roof and look ahead to a hopeful new chapter. James is excited about new developments in veterinary medicine, but a new vet in the area threatens the status quo.”

“The world at large may be changing, but inside this slice of Yorkshire, the Dales will always offer the same perfect escapism,” the synopsis continues. “Packed with warmth, humour and community spirit, the season brings more heartwarming tales of people and animals alike.”

ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL is a global hit. Actress Rachel Shenton, who plays Helen, told The Yorkshire Post that lots of fans showed up in the town where they film the show.

“It felt like this year there was more than ever,” she shared. “There’s so many people, and I’m always like, ‘oh my goodness’, because sometimes it’s freezing and they sit out all day. That level of commitment is really something.”

Nicholas Ralph, who plays James, added, “Again, we’ve seen people from all over the place, Japan, South Africa, Australia this year.”

ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL premieres Jan. 17, 2027.
