Should You Watch It?

Here's the good news up front: this one's a keeper. BAD DINOSAURS is a light-hearted comedy aimed at children, following a mama Tyrannosaurus and her three little T-Rexes as they take life one day at a time. It's wordless, brightly animated, and easy for even small kids to follow — and it lands four stars for how well it does the simple thing it sets out to do.

Yes, there's a lot of farting and burping. And yes, the older siblings pick on the youngest, dinos scuffle now and then, and one segment goes briefly spooky. But nothing here is graphic, and every day ends the same way: the family comes back together in love, no matter what the day threw at them.

So the practical answer is easy. If you've got young children and want something bright, funny, and safe to enjoy together, put this one on.

The Story

NO SPOILERS — WE KEEP THE SURPRISES

Meet the Tyrannosaurus family: one devoted mama T-Rex and her three kids — a pink one, a purple one, and a little red one who's forever getting shut out by the older two.

Each segment drops them into a new comical scrape, told entirely without dialogue. There's a stolen fish and a very determined Pterodactyl. There's a hidden desert oasis guarded by two stubborn "Tricera-Cops." And there's a stormy night in a cave with something glowing in the dark. Silly situations, big physical comedy, and a mama who'll go to any length for her kids — that's the ride.

Is It Any Good?

Four stars, and they're well earned for what this is. BAD DINOSAURS knows exactly what it's trying to be — a bright, easy, giggle-inducing comedy for little ones — and it nails it. The animation is vibrant and clean, and the show manages to hold a child's attention despite having no words at all, which is no small feat.

The humor is broad and physical: pratfalls, chases, falling trees, and plenty of well-timed farts. Where other shows make dinosaurs violent and frightening, these T-Rexes are silly, a little dim, and thoroughly loveable. The result is a comedy that works on its own terms and doesn't overstay its welcome. For its target audience, it's a delight.

The Worldview

What stands out most here is the heart of the thing. BAD DINOSAURS carries a strong moral worldview built around a mother's love for her children — the bond between mama T-Rex and her three kids anchors every segment. The show celebrates having fun together as a family and, above all, coming back together at the end of the day no matter what the family has been through. That's a lovely thing to hand a child.

A few minor elements are worth naming honestly. The siblings pick on one another and sometimes take things from other dinosaurs. The dinosaurs eat other dinosaurs, as dinosaurs do. And one segment leans spooky, with a shadowy critter in a cave. None of it is heavy, and the mother's fierce protectiveness reads throughout as devotion rather than menace.

The recurring picture of a mother who will go to any length to shield her little ones echoes the tenderness Scripture puts on God's own care: "As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you" (Isaiah 66:13). A family that keeps coming home to each other is teaching something true.
