94 FEET
An earnest story of courage, prayer, family, and redemption.
Should You Watch It?
94 FEET offers an interesting story about trapped miners, frightened families, and people forced to set aside prejudice and pull together. Its strongest qualities are its respect for mine workers, its emphasis on a strong and loving family, and its clear presentation of prayer, the Gospel, and hope in Christ.
The film is not polished throughout. Some mediocre acting and writing diminish the impact of its engaging characters. Still, its moral and Christian heart gives the story substance, and its themes of bravery, forgiveness, kindness, selflessness, and family values can give your family worthwhile reasons to talk.
If your household can handle intense scenes and mature themes, 94 FEET is worth watching, especially with older children and adults.
The Story
NO SPOILERS — WE KEEP THE SURPRISESChris Rossi is a hard-working miner and loving family man in the struggling town of St. Michaels. When the mine makes drastic cutbacks, Chris quits alongside his co-workers.
On their last day of work, the mine collapses, trapping Chris’s team 94 feet underground with little hope of survival. Above and below ground, families and miners must let go of prejudice, pull together, and search for hope and grace in Christ.
Is It Any Good?
Three stars means 94 FEET is entertaining and worthwhile, though limited by uneven filmmaking. The storyline is interesting, and the characters are fairly engaging. The film also effectively shows the bravery of mine workers and the importance of a strong, loving family.
Its main weaknesses are mediocre acting and writing. Those shortcomings diminish an otherwise compelling story, keeping the movie from being as powerful as its themes deserve.
The Worldview
94 FEET presents a strong Christian, biblical, and moral worldview. It emphasizes the sovereignty of God, the power of the Gospel, prayer, kindness, selflessness, forgiveness, and family values. The film also presents Christians positively and points its characters toward hope and grace in Christ.
The review identifies no major worldview departure or distortion. Instead, 94 FEET centers its moral vision on people learning to overcome prejudice, care for one another, and trust that God has a plan. Its central longing—for hope in fear and uncertainty—aligns with Scripture’s assurance that “we know that for those who love God all things work together for good” (Romans 8:28).
