What You Need To Know

FACING THE GIANTS is an entertaining, uplifting movie that will capture your heart and transform your soul. The filmmakers who produced the low-budget FACING THE GIANTS, brothers Alex Kendrick and Stephen Kendrick, are extremely talented. Their previous movie, made on a pittance, has done very well and is highly appreciated. FACING THE GIANTS is another step forward. It is a thoroughly entertaining high school football movie with a strong evangelistic thrust.
Coach Grant at Shiloh Christian Academy has reached the low point in his life. The football team keeps losing year after year, his car keeps stalling, his house smells from a rat that died somewhere, and he seems to be impotent, so his wife cannot have the baby she wants so much. Now, the fathers of the students on the lackluster team want to get rid of him. One man, however, prays for the school day after day and gives Grant the wise message that he needs to bloom where he’s planted.
After much prayer, Grant realizes that the importance of the football team is not winning the game but serving God. With this revelation, he completely rebuilds the team, revival breaks out in the school, and miracles start to happen.
The timing and pacing of FACING THE GIANTS is excellent. The audience will laugh and get caught up in the excitement of the game. It is a very emotional movie. Done on a low budget, it does have a few limitations, especially some of the acting, but the script and the storyline are so good that most people will overlook the acting.
MOVIEGUIDE® highly recommends FACING THE GIANTS. We commend the filmmakers for producing such an inspiring, entertaining movie.
