FULL OF GRACE
Trust in Jesus overcomes fear in this beautifully made biblical drama.
Should You Watch It?
FULL OF GRACE offers a quiet, thoughtful look at the emotional strain behind the disciples’ calling. Peter is burdened by doubt, persecution, and the spread of heresies. Mary responds with wisdom, kindness, and a reminder that trust in God leaves no room for fear.
The film is beautifully made, and Bahia Haifi and Noam Jenkins give emotionally convincing performances as Mary and Peter. Their relationship feels almost like that of a mother and son. The story also brings joy through its emphasis on perseverance, Christian fellowship, and the rewards that outweigh suffering.
The tradeoff is a slow pace, with little dialogue and action. Still, the movie is short enough that the slowness remains bearable. For an uplifting, family-suitable biblical drama, WORTH THE TRIP.
The Story
NO SPOILERS — WE KEEP THE SURPRISESYears after Jesus’ ascension, Peter struggles with the responsibility of leading the disciples and defending the truth of the Gospel. As heresies spread and persecution weighs on him, he turns to Mary, who knew Christ better than almost anyone.
Although Mary is sick and cared for by her handmaid Zara, she offers Peter rest, wisdom, and encouragement. Through their conversations and memories of life before Christ’s arrival, the film explores faith, calling, suffering, and trust in God.
Is It Any Good?
Three stars means this is a well-made film with meaningful strengths and a noticeable limitation. Andrew Hyatt’s direction uses pleasing lighting and aesthetically beautiful settings, including recurring images of Mary in a field of wildflowers and Peter casting his net into the sea.
Bahia Haifi and Noam Jenkins deliver emotionally convincing performances. Their portrayal of Mary and Peter gives the film a warm, almost familial center.
The main weakness is its slow pace. There is little dialogue or action, and the story moves slowly in places. Because the film is only 83 minutes, that weakness remains bearable. Overall, it is a beautiful and captivating fresh perspective on the Gospel story.
The Worldview
FULL OF GRACE presents a strong Christian and biblical worldview. It promotes evangelization, relationships among fellow believers, prayer, and trust in God. Jesus, God, and prayer are referenced throughout, and the setting and characters are biblical.
The film imagines a story not told exactly in the Bible, focusing on how the disciples may have dealt with the emotional stress of evangelizing, defending their faith, and correcting heresies. The source review describes the movie as biblically and historically accurate rather than presenting its imagined events as Scripture. It especially respects Mary’s role in the disciples’ lives and presents her wisdom and kindness as qualities to emulate.
Peter’s doubts do not cancel his calling. Mary teaches that suffering may be part of belonging to Christ’s family, but that the rewards will outweigh the pain. That call to continue Christ’s work echoes His command: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19).
