Should You Watch It?

You get a sincere underdog story with a clear center: prayer matters, God answers, and broken people can find redemption. Aiden Paul cares deeply for his high school basketball team and turns to the Bible and prayer when his job, reputation, and future collapse. The film also presents an agnostic lawyer wrestling with faith while the two men pursue justice together.

The movie is not polished in every respect. It deals with gambling, lying, physical abuse, and other difficult realities. Some characters resist God and faith, even as the story ultimately emphasizes God’s light, healing, and miraculous help.

If your family is choosing a Christian drama for older children and adults, WORTH THE TRIP; parents should use discernment for younger viewers.

The Story

NO SPOILERS — WE KEEP THE SURPRISES

Aiden Paul is a young high school basketball coach devoted to his players. After he prays with one hurting student and challenges a principal over the team’s missing funds, Aiden loses his job.

With nowhere else to turn, he seeks help from a troubled lawyer whose own life is unraveling. Together, they take on the school and wrestle with the tension between fact and faith.

Is It Any Good?

Three stars means a good movie with meaningful strengths and noticeable rough edges. The film’s message about prayer and God’s help is clear, and its redemptive elements give the story genuine purpose.

The editing is very good, with nice scene transitions and solid cuts. Still, the movie is somewhat rough around the edges, and its difficult subject matter may limit its appeal for younger viewers.

The Worldview

The film presents a very strong Christian, biblical worldview. Prayer is its backbone, and Aiden turns quickly to the Bible and brings his struggles to God. The story emphasizes that prayer can carry people through difficult circumstances and that having God on your side can help you overcome what seems impossible.

The movie also portrays redemption and healing in broken relationships. Its characters wrestle with faith, doubt, sin, and painful consequences, while the story ultimately affirms God’s light. At the same time, it includes references to homosexuality and a transgender teacher, without showing sexual content involving that reference.

The film’s central longing is for help when human strength fails. Scripture says, “Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known” (Jeremiah 33:3).
