Yes. My Birthday Romance is a thoroughly enjoyable romantic comedy with an engaging plot, funny character dynamics, and a warm family center. Callie’s parents model a healthy marriage, while weekly family dinners strengthen the family’s bond.

The story also values patience, honesty, love, forgiveness, family, and marriage. Although Callie and Will’s arrangement involves deceit and white lies, those choices are ultimately resolved positively.

The Story

NO SPOILERS — WE KEEP THE SURPRISES

Callie owns a catering company and is perfectly content being single. But when her parents repeatedly encourage her to date and plan a birthday party where she might meet a potential match, Callie decides to bring a fake date instead.

She recruits Will, her brother’s friend, to pose as her boyfriend. As they spend time together, their pretend relationship becomes increasingly convincing—and much more complicated than either expected.

Is It Any Good?

Four stars means this is an especially entertaining film, and My Birthday Romance earns that rating through its charm, humor, and appealing relationships.

The movie offers a variety of character dynamics that keep the story lively. Callie and her brother Kyle make a strong comedic duo because they are opposites: Kyle is an extroverted, stereotypical bachelor, while Callie is more independent and introverted. Will is also an appealing romantic lead, giving viewers a reason to root for his relationship with Callie.

The Worldview

The movie does not include explicit Christian or biblical content, but it presents a strong moral worldview with light redemptive elements. It exalts marriage, family, honesty, patience, love, and forgiveness.

Callie’s parents model a healthy and sustainable marriage. The family’s weekly dinners strengthen their bond. Callie eventually comes forward with the truth after lying to her family, and they forgive her. The film acknowledges deceit and white lies as negative while resolving those choices positively.

The movie’s central longing is not simply for romance, but for meaningful love, family, and a lasting marriage. Scripture teaches, “Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor” (Ephesians 4:25).
