Should You Watch It?

Yes. Based on a true story, The Miracle Season is a well-made, wholesome sports drama with very good acting and an uplifting message. It takes heavy subject matter seriously without becoming overbearing or excessively depressing.

The movie follows a high school volleyball team coping with the loss of its beloved captain. Its strongest themes are love, encouragement, perseverance, and finding gratitude even in the midst of hardship. The film also offers a strong Christian worldview through a father’s journey from anger at God toward recognizing the blessings still present in his life.

If your family can handle a story about grief, The Miracle Season is worth the trip.

The Story

NO SPOILERS — WE KEEP THE SURPRISES

Caroline is a fun-loving high school senior and the captain of her volleyball team. She believes the new season will be special, but tragedy suddenly changes everything.

Caroline’s best friend, Kelly, and the other players are devastated and no longer want to continue. Their coach challenges Kelly to lead the team in Caroline’s honor. Now the players must encourage one another and try to defend their State Championship.

Is It Any Good?

Four stars means this is a strong, polished family drama that delivers both entertainment and emotional encouragement. The movie is well-made, and the acting is very good.

Although the story includes serious tragedy and loss, those elements are not overbearing. The film also contains fun and enjoyable moments, allowing the uplifting spirit of the team’s journey to remain at the center.

The Worldview

The film strongly affirms the value of loving and encouraging other people. It presents goodness as a way to face tragedy and loss, and it shows people supporting one another when grief makes continuing feel impossible.

The movie also portrays a father who becomes angry at God after losing his wife and daughter. In time, he comes to terms with the loss and thanks God for the blessings in his life. That movement toward gratitude gives the film a clear Christian perspective without pretending that grief is easy.

Caroline is remembered as someone who encouraged people to love one another. The film’s central message aligns with Scripture’s call to love: “Let us love one another, for love is from God” (1 John 4:7).
