Alexa PenaVega challenged us to “put all your worry” at God’s feet, as she recalled her own faith journey.
“I’ve been so blessed, because I’ve had a rollercoaster faith journey to getting to where I’m at now,” she said during an episode of the “Dear Future Husband” podcast.
PenaVega explained that, while she was brought up in a Christian home, she felt like there was more to explore in her relationship with God.
“When you’re a kid — you know, I didn’t — I had faith, kind of, but we were the Christians that, like, would check the box on Sunday,” she said. “And I knew there was more. My heart craved more.”

Following a divorce in her early 20s, PenaVega began going to a Bible study. There, she met future husband Carlos PenaVega and, through their growing friendship, the actress’ connection to Christ deepened.
“That laid our whole foundation. We were going to Bible study together, we were going to church together,” PenaVega said. “God was always so graceful, just had so much grace over us as we were navigating what it looked like to be His children…and we got married, and it was so beautiful, and it totally changed everything, because we really did enter into a holy space, a holy union.”
The SPY KIDS actress then shared her advice for anyone seeking a stronger and closer relationship with God.
“Pray about everything, worry about nothing,” she said. “Even if you are just a baby Christian, even if you’re not even a Christian yet…just start praying. Put all your worry…put it at His feet, and watch what He does.”
In a conversation with the “Jesus Calling” podcast, PenaVega shared, “I feel like a lot of times it’s painted as like your life is going to be so perfect after you become a Christian. And what actually happened for us was life actually got way harder when we became Christians, but everything was more peaceful and everything made more sense to us.”
Their shared faith is something the couple lean on, especially when navigating the entertainment industry.
“In this business, it’s such a ‘yes’ business,” she told Guideposts. “You have people catering to you all the time, so if you’re not surrounded by like-minded people, if you aren’t surrounded by people who are willing to say ‘no’ to you and keep your attitude in check, then it is very easy to get lost.”
PenaVega continued, “We make sure that we stay on track. We both lift each other up.”
What a powerful reminder to bring everything to God in prayer.
