The music in the movie is inspired by Christian band Petra, which was popular in the ’80s and ’90s. The movie is set in the ’80s.
“For decades, Petra’s music has been about pointing people toward truth and hope,” said John Schlitt, Petra’s lead singer. “To see these songs take on new life in a powerful film like BEYOND BELIEF, and reach a whole new generation, is incredibly meaningful to us.”
The title was inspired by Petra’s album of the same name. And the band also makes an appearance in the movie.
BEYOND BELIEF’s official Instagram page shared a clip of Schlitt and Petra’s co-member, Bob Hartmann, stepping onto the set of the movie.
“When John Schlitt and Bob Hartman stepped onto the set of BEYOND BELIEF, everything seemed to pause for a moment,” the post read. “The men whose music has encouraged millions of people in their faith were now standing in the middle of a story inspired by that very legacy.”
“For our cast and crew, it wasn’t about meeting rock legends. It was about seeing the heart behind the music we’ve loved for decades,” it continued. “Their kindness, encouragement and genuine excitement for this film meant more than they’ll probably ever know.”
“Audiences continue to show up for stories that offer hope and connection,” said Mark Rupp, CFO/COO and Co-Founder of Iconic Events Releasing. “BEYOND BELIEF is a film that speaks to purpose, resilience and belief — elements that continue to draw audiences to the theatrical experience.”
The movie is about following God’s call over fame and stardom. Like many modern faith-based stories, it promises to be told in an entertaining and relatable way. Keep an eye out for Movieguide®’s upcoming review.
