Second chances are at the heart of Candace Cameron Bure’s upcoming holiday movie A SECOND CHANCE CHRISTMAS.

“Our new Christmas movie on Great American Family tells a beautiful Christmas story filled with second chances, healing and the joy of rediscovering love,” she shared in an Instagram video. “This ties into the faith message of the movie because God is love, and He always gives second chances.”

Bure added, “I don’t think you could have more on-the-nose themes from a biblical sense as to what the journey of this movie is about.”

A SECOND CHANCE CHRISTMAS stars Bure as Anna and Jonathan Scarfe as James, a former couple who have been divorced for the past five years.

“Their once-happy union [is] now a carefully managed truce for the sake of their children,” a synopsis from Great American Family reads. “When their daughter invites the entire family to meet her serious boyfriend over Christmas at her grandparents’ rustic Smoky Mountain cabin, the former couple reluctantly agrees.”

The synopsis continues, “Arriving a day early to avoid awkwardness, Anna is surprised to find James has the same idea. But when the worst ice storm in a decade traps them in the mountains with no way out, the exes are forced to confront the history they share — and the possibility that their story may not be finished after all.”

In an interview with Us Weekly, Bure shared that A SECOND CHANCE CHRISTMAS is about “marriage, family and the beauty of second chances.”

“It asks the question: what if you could have a do-over — but this time with maturity, faith, and a deeper understanding of who you are and who God is at the center of it all?” she continued.

The FULL HOUSE actress also spoke about her role as the “Queen of Christmas Movies,” explaining that the movie genre is “evolving” for her.

“They’re not just about a big-city girl meeting a small-town boyfriend anymore,” Bure explained. “With [my production company] CandyRock Entertainment, we’re passionate about creating stories that carry meaning, purpose, and hope — stories that remind people it’s never too late for redemption, healing, and love.”

In a press release announcing A SECOND CHANCE CHRISTMAS, Great American Media President and CEO Bill Abbott praised Bure’s abilities to pick projects audiences will love, shouting out her “extraordinary instinct for stories that uplift, inspire, and reflect the enduring values of faith.

“She not only understands our audience, but she also champions them,” he said. “Her commitment to quality storytelling continues to set the standard for what Great American Christmas is all about.”

A SECOND CHANCE CHRISTMAS will premiere on Great American Family later this year.
