Chris Evans doesn’t look at work the same way since his daughter was born.
“I have a daughter now,” Evans said during a recent appearance at Boston’s Fan Expo. “You need a really good reason to want to go to work now. You know, priorities have shifted a bit.”
He and his wife Alba Baptista welcomed their daughter in October 2025. He married Baptista in 2023.
“We kinda had two ceremonies. We had one on the East Coast, and we did one in Portugal,” Evans said.
Evans got over a dozen pitches for him to return to the Marvel Universe the last eight years before he finally accepted to return in AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY.
When he heard Robert Downey Jr. would come back as Doctor Doom, he had to get in on it.
“I was like, ‘Uh, oh. What does this mean?’” the actor recalled. “And all of a sudden it felt right. [DOOMSDAY co-director Joe Russo] gave me the pitch, and Downey was [back]. It just all of a sudden…it was like, ‘This is it.’”

He doesn’t know if he will jump back in the universe after this.
“I guess it’s a never-say-never, but certainly not willing to just jump back in for anything because I think everyone here is precious with their role in the universe,” Evans said. “This stuff, it’s earned its position over a long period of time. You don’t want to mess with that.”
He says Captain America’s storyline in the new movie is tough.
“The Russos love beating up Steve Rogers,” Evans joked. “Their favorite thing to do is to just beat the crap out of him.”
But that’s all part of his hero persona.
He said, “That’s someone who gets punched so many times but still gets up. So they keep finding new ways to kick his butt. And this one was brutal.”
At the Fan Expo, Evans also shared who he would pick for a four member MCU super team.
“Well, I’m sure if everyone here was asked this question, there’d be follow-ups like: ‘Well, based on what? Are we talking about who you want to hang out with? Are you trying to fight to win?’ I guess you’d be a fool not to start with Scarlet Witch just based on the power,” he said.
He added he’d pick Thor for his strength and Iron Man, “because after you win, he knows all the good vacation spots,” he joked. He would also pick his own character, of course.
AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY comes out on Dec. 18.
