Chaplain Colonel Willie Mashack shared a powerful prayer ahead of the Freedom 250 Grand Prix.

“Eternal God, we come before You with reverence and humility, acknowledging that You alone are holy, worthy of all glory, honor and praise,” he said in a video shared by Christhlete. “You are the creator and sustainer of life. Therefore, we pause to acknowledge our gratefulness for Your unfailing mercy, steadfast love and abundant grace.”

Col. Mashack continued, “Dear God, as we gather together to enjoy this race, we ask for Your providential care over every person participating and attending. Bless the drivers with skill, steady hands and focus as they operate these powerful machines. Bless the crewmen with attentiveness and grant these race officials fairness. Bless the spectators with the joy of fellowship. And lastly, God, we ask that You will give us Your strength, give us Your peace, bless our nation and bless its leaders, for it’s in Your holy and precious name I pray, in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen.”

The Freedom 250 Grand Prix took place this past weekend. The race was “the first‑ever NTT INDYCAR SERIES race on the National Mall,” per the race’s website, intended to “celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with world‑class racing set against the backdrop of some of America’s most historic landmarks, including the Washington Monument and the US Capitol.”

Before the race, President Donald Trump told FOX SPORTS, “The track is wonderful. You know, we’re going around the Capitol, but this turned out to be a better track, and so now we see the Capitol. You see it right behind you, and I want everyone to be safe, and I want the people to have a good time.”

Racer Kyle Kirkwood took home first prize, saying after the race, “You can’t even put it into words — this is incredible. I’m almost in tears here. This is a big moment for us, a big moment for America here with the 250.”

“It felt good to dominate out there; I’m not going to lie,” he continued. “That was a really good moment. What an incredible place to do it. If you can’t win the [Indianapolis] 500, this is definitely the place to win. I don’t know if we’re ever going to get a chance to do it again — I hope we do. This was awesome. What a dream come true.”

The Freedom 250 Grand Prix was a faith-filled and patriotic event as we continue to celebrate America’s 250th birthday.
