Danica McKellar calls her partnership with Great American Media “divine timing.”
“It’s so interesting, because when I joined Great American [Media], it wasn’t like — it was just — I would call it coincidental timing, but it’s obviously divine timing,” she told Us Weekly.
McKellar explained, “You know, Bill Abbott, he had been at Hallmark, and he asked me to come over, and I mean, I credit him with my career, like, my whole second-life of a career, after THE WONDER YEARS and THE WEST WING and coming into this whole Christmas movie and romcom era of my life. That’s Bill Abbott.”
“People ask, ‘Why did you leave Hallmark?’” she continued. “I didn’t leave Hallmark. I stayed with the person.”

The actress also noted that “the timing of that, with me also coming to faith — it was completely not planned, and one didn’t influence the other.”
“It’s just that it happened to work out that way,” McKellar concluded. “So that was a God-wink.”
The actress is gearing up for the release of her latest Great American movie, THE GREATEST CHRISTMAS GIFT.
“This is the first time that I’ve done a Christmas movie where I was already with my co-star, like, we were already together,” McKellar told Us Weekly of the movie. “We’re fiancés in this. Of course, we get married at the end, and it’s [a] really beautiful ceremony. It’s a different kind of movie for me.”
And, despite some bumps in the road for her character, McKellar promised, “You will still feel all warm and fuzzy and happy at the end, and that’s because the community comes together.”
In an interview with The Christian Post, the actress shared, “I love doing these movies for Great American Family Channel and Pure Flix. It’s an opportunity to help lift human nature. Let’s lift people up. Let’s lift up our audience members and show them that, you know what? You can do this. Be resilient. Try your best.”
“I think there’s a whole audience that’s desperate for this content,” McKellar continued. “I think the rest of entertainment has gone in such a different direction that there are a lot of people saying, ‘I want to watch something for my family that’s going to make us feel good afterwards and not have bad memories in our head.’ And so, we can provide that.”
Through her work with Great American Media, McKellar continues to make uplifting content that the whole family can enjoy.
