Young actor Malachi Barton is poised for stardom with his upcoming role in CAMP ROCK 3, but it’s faith, rather than fame, that drives him.
“Honestly, what drives me is Jesus Christ and being a light of God in a business where there isn’t a lot of that,” he told Variety. “That’s what gets me stoked when I wake up. I’m like, ‘That’s so lit! Jesus is freaking sick.’”
Barton continued, “You don’t often see faith being talked about in this business. There’s so many crazy things that go on. I use God to say, ‘I’m not here for all that crazy stuff. I’m here to do my job and have fun doing what I love through a filter of God.’”
He is set to star in CAMP ROCK 3 alongside the Jonas Brothers, who starred in the first two movies in the series.

“CAMP ROCK is literally a legendary movie franchise, and you could ask anybody and they’d know what it is,” Barton said. “The fact that I’m able to be a part of this next generation of Camp Rockers is so fun and so sick.”
The actor, who has previously appeared in DORA AND THE LOST CITY OF GOLD, STUCK IN THE MIDDLE and FANCY NANCY, is open about his Christian faith.
Barton’s Instagram bio reads, “‘Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.’ Joshua 1:9,” along with a cross and American flag emoji.
Another major movie role for Barton was Disney’s ZOMBIES 4: DAWN OF THE VAMPIRES.
“It was such a fun experience. Very, very grateful,” he told Just Jared Jr. of the movie, an installment in the popular ZOMBIES series.
Tim Federle, creator of HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL: THE MUSICAL: THE SERIES, told Variety he is “a big believer in Malachi Barton” and even created a role for him in the upcoming Disney series COVEN ACADEMY.
“The X factor Malachi has is so undeniable,” Federle said. “And it was so clear that he has something incredibly special that you can’t teach.”
So, how long does Barton plan to stick with Disney?
“Dude, as long as they’ll have me!” he told Variety. “I’ve literally grown up in the Disney bubble, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I’m trusting God’s plan, and I’m hanging out with Mickey Mouse right now, and it’s fun.”
