Dolly Parton isn’t done yet; the first song released by the country artist since her death on Aug. 25 just debuted last week.

“The late country singer recorded a cover of ‘Bound to Ride’ alongside the First Ladies of Bluegrass as part of a tribute to the Stanley Brothers,” Entertainment Weekly reported, adding that the song will be part of an album titled Where the Soul Never Dies: Celebrating 80 Years of The Stanley Brothers, out Oct. 16.

Country stars Willie Nelson and Sierra Ferrell are also part of the project, as well as actors — and accomplished banjo players — Steve Martin and Ed Helms.

Parton’s vocals were reportedly recorded in 2022.

“Bound to Ride” is far from the only project we’ll get from Parton following her death.

“Dolly worked up until the day she died. She loved seeing her dreams come to life, and loved knowing her work brought people joy,” Parton’s longtime manager, Danny Nozell, told Entertainment Weekly in August. “Ever the planner, Dolly worked with the team that she handpicked for the past several years to build a project roadmap that will guide us for decades to come.”

Nozell explained that his team is focused on “overseeing her legacy” and “will ensure the many dreams she had yet to fulfill are brought to life.”

“If you see unreleased music, products, books, experiences and campaigns launched through official Dolly Parton channels, you can have confidence in knowing that she placed her personal stamp on it,” he concluded.

These projects include everything from the opening of Dolly Parton’s SongTeller Hotel and a coffee line, Dolly’s Cup Of Ambition Coffee, to the launch of Broadway musical “Dolly: A True Original Musical.”

There’s one project we’ll have to wait a little while longer to hear, though. An unreleased song, “My Place in History,” is still locked inside a box at Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. The song was written in 2015, and the box will not be opened until Jan. 19, 2046 — what would have been Parton’s 100th birthday.

“There’s no telling what music is going to be by then,” Parton wrote of the track in her 2020 book, Dolly Parton, Songteller: My Life in Lyrics, joking, “Hopefully, it will play and the whole thing ain’t rotted.”

Parton’s death was a major loss for the musical community, but the country singer is still sharing projects with her fans, ensuring her legacy will live on long after she’s gone.
