Cleveland Browns safety Daniel Thomas encouraged his social media followers to never be “afraid or ashamed” of the gospel.

In a video shared by Christhlete on Instagram, the athlete referenced Psalm 105:1, which reads, “Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done.”

“And that right there is just simply encouraging all of us to share the goodness of the Lord today,” Thomas said. “As believers, we should never be afraid or ashamed to tell people about what the good Lord has done for us and what He’s currently doing, because you never know how our testimony and our story can encourage somebody else to keep going, and most importantly, push them closer to Jesus Christ.”

He concluded the video with a prayer.

“Dear Heavenly Father, we just come humbly, as you know how. Again, God, we appreciate you. We love you so much. Thank you, Lord, for the great reminder to always share the goodness of the Lord; help us never be afraid or ashamed to tell people about you. I want to give you all the honor, the glory and the praise. It’s in Jesus’ name we pray. Amen,” he prayed.

In June, Thomas and several of his teammates gathered for Cleveland for Christ, an event created for testimony sharing, worship and baptism.

“This is a special moment for my brothers and I, as we’ve prayed about finding a way to impact this amazing community through Christ. We can’t wait to come together and celebrate faith in such a powerful way,” Thomas wrote on Instagram.

At the event, Thomas emphasized, “It’s so important to share your testimony.”

“I encourage my teammates, anybody around me, because I look at it like this: A lot of people are not going to church, so you might be the only Bible that somebody ever reads. It’s important how we carry ourselves on and off the field,” he urged, per Sports Spectrum.

Browns running back Raheim Sanders and linebacker Carson Schwesinger, last season’s AP NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, were baptized at the event, Sports Spectrum reported.

“Having a true relationship with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made,” Thomas told Sports Spectrum previously. “He’s been there for me in times of need, times where I was in my highs and especially times in my lows.

Praise God for Thomas and his teammates faithfulness to share the gospel. They face off against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sept. 13 for their first regular-season game.
