Candace Cameron Bure is not afraid to share her faith publicly, no matter what people might say.

“If I didn’t talk about [my faith], I wouldn’t be authentic to me and who I am,” she said during an interview with Fox News. “And my faith has been a part of me and important to me since I was a little girl.”

She explained that if she stopped talking about her faith, “Then I would just stop talking about all the things that make me who I am.”

Bure admitted she used to be “scared” to share her faith publicly, as many people she worked with told her to downplay it or not talk about it at all. However, the actress said God “always shows up” to encourage her in weak moments.

“I just say yes because it allows me to see what God is going to do with the situation that I’m super fearful about,” she said.

Bure leaned on her faith while working on SPECIAL FORCES: WORLD’S TOUGHEST TEST.

“I memorized a lot of Scripture…because I knew I was going to have to draw upon that to remind myself that God doesn’t give me a spirit of fear,” Bure said. “[God] gives me a spirit of power and love and of a sound mind. And I reminded myself…that he says, ‘Candace, don’t be afraid. Be courageous, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.’”

In an interview with TV Insider, the FULL HOUSE star revealed she was asked to be on the show years earlier but was afraid to say yes. After turning 50 this year, Bure felt ready to take on the challenge.

“I’m the kind of person that when something scares me, I want to say yes to it just to push through that fear. I don’t want fear to limit me or dictate my life. So I guess this was the year to say yes,” she said.

Talking to Woman’s World, Bure shared, “The show really brings out the best and worst in you because you’re in this highly stressful, kind of fight or flight [situation]. You’re really risking your life, trying to save your life for an extended period of time, and you really learn who you are. I learned a lot about myself, so I’m really grateful for the experience.”

SPECIAL FORCES: WORLD’S TOUGHEST TEST premieres Sept. 24.
