The Big & Rich’s John Rich recently prayed with KISS frontman Gene Simmons and asked his followers to also pray for the rock star’s salvation.
“On my tour bus, I just held hands and prayed with Gene Simmons that Jesus would make himself known to him in such a way they he couldn’t deny him,” Rich posted on X on July 4. “Pray that Gene gives his life to Christ. God’s will be done.”
In response to a comment, Rich said that Simmons’ conversion would be the “perfect example” of a Saul-to-Paul, Damascus road kind of conversion.
“It CAN happen,” the country music star said.

Simmons isn’t necessarily known for an openness to Christianity. He was born in Israel and raised in a practicing Jewish home, but ChurchLeaders said there’s speculation that KISS stands for “Knights in Satan’s Service.”
The musician’s on-stage persona, “The Demon,” often “spits fake blood and breathes fire while wearing a winged, bat-like costume,” the outlet reported.
However, “I don’t worship the devil. I worship myself,” Simmons said, refuting the rumor of the possible meaning behind KISS.
In 2021, though, Simmons came to former NFL star and Christian influencer Tim Tebow’s defense when news of his potential return to professional football circulated.
“I support Tim Tebow,” Simmons posted on social media. “He was widely criticized and made fun of, simply because he is a man of faith, who believed in his Christian values. Shame on the NFL and the rest of the world for stooping so low.”
He did the same in 2013, saying of Tebow, “Here’s a man who believes in God and people pick on him. If he was a Jew or a Muslim and you did that — people would never dare. But for some reason if he’s a Christian, you’re allowed to pick on him.”
Simmons certainly wouldn’t be the first rocker to give his life to Christ. Korn frontman Brian Welch similarly experienced the gospel’s incredible power.
“When I came to the place where I was ready to open up my heart to God, I didn’t necessarily know it as opening my heart, but I was begging for help because I was in such a dark place where I wanted my life to be over,” Welch explained on the “Stand Up Dude” podcast. “And so I got to that place where I was, like, ‘Please, help me.’ And that opened my heart a little bit.”
He added, “…meeting God and learning that God is love, it started to fill that place, the empty place in me that the drugs and the alcohol were trying to fill.”
Pray that Simmons experiences a similar transformation and gives his life to Christ.
