Jonathan Roumie is marking THE CHOSEN Season 6’s upcoming premiere with a powerful verse of scripture.
“‘Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son so that the Son may glorify you.’ (John 17:1),” he captioned an Instagram post. “Upon Himself, he bore all our sins that through His sacrifice, we may have eternal life.”
Roumie added, “Season 6 streams on @primevideo November 15. @thechosentvseries Crucifixion film releases in theaters March 12, 2027.”
An official description of Season 6 reads, “The hour has come. Before the sun sets, Jesus of Nazareth will be dead. Season six captures the historic events of Jesus’ final day through the lives of those who love Him — and those who condemn Him.”

“Pharisees call it justice. Romans call it peace. Followers call it murder,” it continues. “But in the face of loneliness and death, Jesus stands resolute in his plan that has always led to one place: the cross.”
The cast and crew of THE CHOSEN have been discussing the weight of Season 6, with show creator Dallas Jenkins telling fans in a livestream, “We put a lot of time and effort into this because this is important.”
“This season is the most important and biggest and heaviest season we’ve ever done,” he explained. “But there’s also moments of pure joy and meaning as well, which you wouldn’t expect in a season about the crucifixion. But I really want you to lean into this.”
Abe Bueno-Jallad, the actor who plays Big James, told Deseret News, “I say this every year, but I truly think that this time, this is going to be the most intense that they’ve ever seen us go. The pace, the drama, all of that has been picked up, and you can feel it. It’s so palpable. There’s not a casual conversation in any scene. Everything is going. The wheels are turning. People are trying to stop things from happening — and they’re not able to.”
Roumie told Fox News that shooting the crucifixion scenes was “the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life — both professionally and personally as a human being.”
“I spent a lot of time asking the Lord to show me what he wanted people to see and what he wanted them to experience and if it was at all possible for me to try to experience a fraction of a fraction of what he went through,” he shared. “I was willing to offer myself in that way, and he gave me some really challenging experiences on set, physically and emotionally.”
THE CHOSEN Season 6 premieres on Prime Video Nov. 15, with a standalone movie depicting the crucifixion premiering in theaters March 12, 2027.
