Singer-songwriter Leanna Crawford is celebrating God’s hand in her life as she releases new album Thank God.
“I really struggled a few years ago with the music industry and I was kind of ready to quit,” Crawford shared during an episode of Annie F. Downs’ “That Sounds Fun” podcast. “But I ended up going to counseling, and it was so good, and God was so kind in that season, and He put people in my life just to speak truth and speak life, and it was so good.”
Crawford released Thank God this month, with songs that celebrate her faith.
“Just His kindness and allowing me to do this…He’s been so faithful,” she said. “I’ve prayed for so many things personally, career-wise — all this stuff that I didn’t know He would answer the way that He did.”
Crawford added, “His plan has been so much better the whole time, and so His faithfulness…it just felt very tangible in this last season.”

In an interview with the Christian Post, Crawford revealed that, after the release of her first album, Still Waters, she started putting all her worth into how well her music performed. When her music didn’t have immediate success, Crawford struggled.
“I felt like I’d let everybody down,” she said. “Felt like I’d let God down, but I was also kind of upset at Him because I was like, ‘Well, what are you doing? I want to be in control.’”
Crawford shared that “a lot of those songs were written in the middle of that season,” pointing to track “Thank God” — “This one is me looking back now and saying, ‘Oh, that’s why I had to go through some of that.’”
In an interview with ChurchLeaders, the artist shared that she writes “a lot about my life and things that I’m going through.”
“I hope that the music feels inviting to whoever,” Crawford continued. “Maybe somebody that doesn’t know Jesus finds the music…and maybe they start listening more. I might not have all the answers, I definitely don’t, but I do have a hope in Jesus.”
She told the Christian Post, “I don’t always look back, but then when I do, I’m like, ‘Oh my goodness, God answered this prayer,’ and I totally forgot about it because I’m just on to the next thing’…I don’t maybe understand all that He’s doing,” Crawford said. “I don’t have all the answers, but I can trust that He’s not going to waste this season. So thank You for saying no. Thank You for saying, ‘Not yet.’”
Thank God is now available to stream wherever you get your music.
