“I Took A Pill in Ibiza” singer Mike Posner is celebrating his recent baptism, sharing his faith journey with fans.
“A year ago, I got down on my knees and gave my life to Christ,” he wrote in an Instagram post. “What is interesting is what happened afterwards.”
The singer explained that, “after getting up from my knees, I really didn’t know [what] I now believed in.”
Posner shared that he began reading works from authors like C.S. Lewis and Mother Theresa, as well as the New Testament but admitted he was “still a little confused on what it meant to me to be a Christian.”

“But in the last few weeks, that has somewhat been filled in for me,” he wrote. “FOR ME; to be a Christian means to aspire with all your mind, body and soul to live as Christ did…It means to forgive every single person in my life including me and LOVE CHRIST BY LOVING PEOPLE.”
Posner continued, “It’s not just a doctrine or theology, it’s a way of life rooted in faith. For me, if it isn’t causing me to LOVE MORE PEOPLE MORE FULLY, it isn’t God.”
“A few weeks ago, I was baptized,” he shared. “Christ has not made my life or my heart smaller, but much, much bigger. I’m working on developing more and more of a personal relationship with God.”
The singer has been open about his faith over the last few years. In a 2024 interview with Fox News, Posner said faith has played an “essential role” in his life.
“When I just let go of control and have faith that there’s something wiser, stronger, smarter than me that’s really running the show. It loves me. It has my back,” he shared.
Posner even rewrote one of his biggest hits, “I Took A Pill in Ibiza,” to reflect his faith.
“On my 26th birthday, I wrote, ‘I Took A Pill in Ibiza.’ It was a sad but honest song about the state of my life,” he wrote in an Instagram post in Feburary. “Twelve years later, I feel proud to look at the lyrics of THAT song and know that NONE of them are true anymore. I’ve grown into a completely new man…one that I’m proud of.”
Posner continued, “This song is the soundtrack to my personal transformation and I hope it becomes the soundtrack to others coming closer to faith, love, and the life that they deserve. I hope this song is a vehicle for transformation and faith for other people.”
Posner’s fans are excited to see the artist take this next step in his faith journey.
