Toronto Raptors center Trey Jemison has some encouragement for believers looking for a spouse.
In his most recent Instagram Bible study, he reflected on Proverbs 18:22, which says, “He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord.”
“It doesn’t say he who has motion obtains favor [or] he who has all these women obtain favor. This says, ‘He who finds a wife,'” Jemison said. “And as y’all know now that I have my wife, I’m extremely blessed, but I can tell that when I look back, since I met her, and since we tied the knot, it was like, ‘Hey, God’s hand has been over our life.’ He’s blessed us so much. He’s carried us so much. I’m just so grateful to be like, ‘Hey, I done found my good thing.’”
Jemison wed Alex Jean Glover in a secret elopement last summer, but they celebrated their nuptials with family and friends just last weekend with a “Western chic”-themed wedding in Tennessee.

But marriage isn’t a step Jemison took lightly, and he encouraged other men to ask God for wisdom when it comes to finding a spouse.
“And just for any brothers out there who are praying about it, who are looking for the peace and looking for the answer, go to God about it,” the center shared. “Why I went to God about should I marry Alex. He gave me a peace that surpassed understanding on what to do. And looking back, it was the best decision of my life. So, I’m beyond grateful for that.”
“So, for any of my brothers out there who are praying about, ‘Hey man, should I marry this girl? What should I do?’ Man, just take it to God, and watch how He’ll give you the wisdom to make the right decision, the peace in that decision, and the favor once you have made the decision,” Jemison concluded.
While at their wedding last week, the couple shared a video announcing they were already marriage. They posted the video to Instagram later.
“Since the secret is out, here is the video we played for our wedding guests to reveal that we’ve been married for a full year. Thank you, God, and cheers to many more,” Alex wrote in a post on Instagram alongside the video.
The couple’s story is a beautiful reminder of what it looks like to seek God’s wisdom as you consider who you will marry.
