NCIS fans finally have confirmation that season 24 is underway, and the cast made sure everyone knew it.
“Time flies when you’re having fun,” Brian Dietzen wrote on TikTok on July 15, sharing photos from the season’s first table read. Dietzen, who plays Dr. Jimmy Palmer on the long-running CBS drama, captioned the post “Season 24” and tagged it with #ncis.
Wilmer Valderrama, who plays Special Agent Nick Torres, posted his own photos from the same table read that day.
“Season 24,” Valderrama wrote on Instagram, confirming what fans had been hoping to hear since the season 23 finale left plenty of storylines unresolved, including the death of longtime NCIS Director Leon Vance.
The comments filled in fast, according to Good Housekeeping.
“This is huge. Congrats to all the cast and crew,” one fan wrote.

“Hurry up! TV is so boring with out my NCIS!” another added.
Production reportedly got underway in the Los Angeles area this past week, according to CarterMatt. Mid-July is a fairly typical start date for the show, meaning CBS could hold the premiere until late September or early October depending on how the network wants to schedule its fall lineup.
The bigger story buried in the production update: Michael Weatherly is set to reprise his role as Tony DiNozzo for what CarterMatt calls “a significant arc” this season.
How exactly the character factors back into NCIS remains unclear, but his return suggests the writers aren’t finished with the world introduced in NCIS: TONY & ZIVA, the spinoff that reunited Weatherly’s DiNozzo with Cote de Pablo’s Ziva David last year.
Movieguide® has tracked NCIS’s ups and downs closely over its more than two-decade run. The franchise has occasionally delivered some of its most affecting, faith-forward work in recent seasons — Movieguide®’s review of the episode “God Only Knows” called it “brilliantly structured, exciting, stirring and even profound,” praising its strong, inspiring depiction of faith and values.
Not every chapter has cleared that bar. Movieguide®’s review of NCIS: TONY & ZIVA flagged “seven annoying, unnecessary strong obscenities and profanities” even while praising the spinoff’s action and comedy.
Whatever direction Season 24 takes DiNozzo, Torres and the rest of the team, families who’ve stuck with NCIS have found real reasons to keep watching: loyalty, sacrifice and the occasional flicker of grace amid the crime-drama chaos. Fans will find out for themselves once CBS locks in a premiere date this fall.
