Actor Vin Diesel says the finale of the FAST & FURIOUS saga is shaping up to be everything fans have hoped for.
“It is the best script I have read in decades. I am still crying…” Diesel wrote on Instagram, according to Variety.
Diesel posted the reaction over the weekend alongside a trailer for the original THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS, which returns to theaters Aug. 21 for its 25th anniversary. He used the moment to build anticipation for FAST FOREVER, the franchise’s twelfth and final movie, currently set for March 17, 2028.
“You have no idea…When March 17th 2028 comes…you will thank God you got to see the first one in the theaters this summer,” Diesel wrote in the same post.
The screenplay earning that praise comes from screenwriter Michael Lesslie, best known for THE HUNGER GAMES prequels THE BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS & SNAKES and SUNRISE ON THE REAPING, along with NOW YOU SEE ME: NOW YOU DON’T. Lesslie is reworking a draft from writers Aaron Rabin and Zach Dean, according to Variety, making him the sixth screenwriter to take a pass at the finale since Universal began development.

Director Louis Leterrier is set to helm FAST FOREVER, which is expected to close out the saga Diesel launched as Dominic Toretto back in 2001. The movie has earned more than $7 billion worldwide across its run, and Diesel’s Instagram post suggests he wants the ending to match that legacy.
This isn’t the first time Diesel has described the finale in emotional terms. Movieguide® previously reported his remarks calling the ending “a celebration of the incredible family we’ve built together.”
“This grand finale is not just an ending; it’s a celebration of the incredible family we’ve built together. Hope to make you proud!” Diesel said back in 2024, well before this latest script draft came together.
The franchise’s most recent entry gave Movieguide® real reason for cautious optimism, too. FAST X earned praise for its “strong Christian, moral worldview,” which included “verbal and visual references to faith, Jesus and the Cross,” according to Movieguide®’s review of the film.
Part of that review notes the movie’s depiction of Dom protecting his son is deliberately tied to faith imagery and that the story “promotes family, honor and sacrifice.” That’s the same throughline Diesel keeps returning to as the series heads toward its close.
Whether FAST FOREVER can match Diesel’s sky-high praise won’t be clear until it actually reaches theaters. But for a franchise that has quietly woven faith and family into 25 years of car chases and explosions, there’s reason for Christian families to hope the finale sticks the landing — and keeps the message intact that brought them back every time.
