A newly-released trailer shows just what the heroes of THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RINGS OF POWER’s third season are up against.
“Starting with the smoldering embers and blackened lands of Mordor, the trailer starts with the voice of Sauron (Charlie Vickers) as he says to his henchmen ‘Now, is the mighty hour come,’ as molten metal is poured into a rather familiar ring-shaped mould,” Deadline revealed, recounting a trailer that premiered at this year’s Comic-Con.
The outlet shared other scenes from the trailer, including “a happier Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) as she dances with Celeborn (Jamie Campbell Bower), an Elf Prince introduced as her new love interest,” as well as the news that the Dark Lord is working to create “one ring to rule them all.”

The trailer also revealed that Simon Pegg has joined the RINGS OF POWER cast as the voice of the Balrog, along with Eddie Marsan as Thrain of Dwarven royalty and father of THE HOBBIT’s Thorin Oakenshield, Andrew Richardson as Anarion a king of Gondor, Zubin Varla as a Ringwraith named Khamûl the Easterling, and an original character named Marnûkh played by Adam Young.
In an interview with Empire Magazine, Vickers talked about what it was like to fully step into Sauron’s shoes as a villain.
“The first day I walked onto that set, I cried,” he said. “What an amazing privilege and honor to be able to tell that story. We were doing the [forging of the One] Ring across two weeks, because the sequence is so long.”
In an interview with ScreenRant, the actor said, “I think [Sauron will] be more emboldened. I think in the sense that he’s getting close, if you look at his power on a chart, he’s getting closer and closer to being at his peak power. I think we could get a form, or a version, of Sauron where he is Sauron the Terrible, like he is at his most mighty externally, at least.”
Co-showrunner Patrick McKay shared, “This is the season where Sauron makes the One Ring in the volcano, with fellow co-showrunner J.D. Payne adding, “We have a full-on villain this season, in a way that was quite different before…This third season is darker, more dangerous. No one is safe.”
THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RINGS OF POWER Season 3 premieres on Prime Video on Nov. 11, 2026.
