The Baltimore Ravens opened their season in dominant fashion, defeating the Indianapolis Colts 41-23 on the road on Sunday.

Baltimore controlled the game from start to finish, piling up 506 total yards while holding the ball for over 35 minutes compared to just under 25 for Indianapolis.

Quarterback Lamar Jackson came in hot, completing 17 of 25 passes for 324 yards and a touchdown, securing a 124.2 passer rating and adding a five-yard rushing touchdown.

But the athlete said it wouldn’t have been possible without God.

“I want to thank Jesus Christ for helping us win this game,” Jackson said in a post-game press conference. “You know, we battled. Some of our soldiers went down, but we prevailed. So, I just want to thank Jesus Christ.”

As Jackson entered the 2026-2027 NFL season, he did so with one goal in mind: his faith comes first.

“If it’s not from Jesus Christ, I don’t want it. I’m not bending my faith. It’s not worth it,” he posted on his Instagram story, according to Christhlete.

In another video shared by the outlet, Jackson declared that he’s only after Jesus.

“I’m chasing Jesus, man,” Jackson said. “A better version of myself. I feel like when you’re a great person, you can help other people be great people as well. So always good to lift someone up.”

“You know, you never know what type of day someone else is having,” the quarterback continued. “You know, your day could be made, but someone else is going through it. And a lot of us never know what someone’s going through at home. It’s all about just treating everyone with respect.”

Last season, Jackson struggled big-time. According to Fox News, it was the first year the athlete finished a season under .500 as a starter and the first time since 2021 that the Ravens didn’t make the playoffs.

But even when criticism came, he kept his faith first.

“Instead of trying to bring me down, ask GOD to bring you up,” Jackson wrote on X back in April with emojis of praying hands, a purple heart and an army helmet. “#JESUSCHRISTKINGOFKINGS.”

Looking ahead, Baltimore returns home to face the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, Sept. 20, and enter that matchup as a heavy favorite with a 78% chance of a win. Coming off a dominant 41-23 season-opening win over the Colts, the Ravens will look to carry that momentum into their home opener.
