Zachary Levi has nothing but love for the upcoming TANGLED live-action movie.
“It looks beautiful,” he said while appearing on the “Pause Rewind” podcast. “The costumes look very accurate to represent what was in the animated film. They’re shooting in Spain, you know, in all those beautiful courtyards and all that stuff that looks very much like Corona [TANGLED’s fictional kingdom].”
Levi, who voiced Flynn Rider in the original animated movie, shared that he “DMed” Milo Manheim when he was cast as the live-action’s Flynn — “I was like, ‘Hey man, congratulations, go do this character justice.’”
The actor also gave an answer as to whether or not he had wanted to be considered for the part.

“A lot of people were like, ‘Why aren’t you playing Flynn?’” Levi explained. “I was like, ‘Guys, Rapunzel is 17 when that movie starts. So Flynn can’t be more than 24. Like, even that’s pushing it. I’m not going to be able to go and do that. They need to go find that young guy who’s going to go, you know, do justice to that character.’ And Milo’s a very talented guy. He sings, he dances, he acts. You know, he’s the triple threat.”
The SHAZAM! actor added, “I want nothing but success for them. I know that a lot of the live actions, it can be hit [or] miss. And I love the world of TANGLED so much. Obviously, it’s, you know, near and dear to my heart on so many levels.”
Mandy Moore, who voiced Rapunzel in the original TANGLED, has also weighed in on the movie, telling Entertainment Tonight, “I’m excited for it. I’m excited to see a big-screen adaptation, live-action.”
Australian actress Teagan Croft will play Rapunzel in the new version, with Kathryn Hahn playing Mother Gothel.
Hahn described the role as “a big next step for me,” as she has “never really sung professionally in anything before.”
“I’m just telling people that it feels like I’m in FAME right now,” she joked. “I’m rehearsing in Spain. They’re shooting and I’ve been rehearsing. I’ve been singing and dancing. It’s so fun. Never thought at this stage in the game that that’s what I would do.”
TANGLED premieres March 31, 2028.
