Should You Watch It?

SWEET GIRL is a highly entertaining thriller with emotional weight. Its strongest elements are a devoted family fighting to survive, a serious concern for justice, and provocative questions about what happens when justice becomes revenge.

The film also offers a strong Christian and moral framework. It honors family, doing the right thing, love, and redemption. Evil and greed are rebuked, while references to God and the Cross of Christ give the story spiritual substance.

That comes at a steep content cost. The violence is intense, and the language includes seven “f” words, two “s” words, a “b” word, and a GD profanity. Adults who can engage those elements with discernment may find the film rewarding; families with children or young teens should choose something else.

For discerning adults, SWEET GIRL is worth the trip.

The Story

NO SPOILERS — WE KEEP THE SURPRISES

Ray Cooper is a devoted husband and father whose wife is dying of cancer. When a pharmaceutical company pulls an experimental drug that might have saved her, Ray vows to find answers and hold the company accountable.

After a journalist claims to have proof of criminal wrongdoing, Ray and his daughter, Rachel, are drawn into a dangerous struggle involving corruption, revenge, and people determined to silence them. Soon, father and daughter are running for their lives while trying to uncover the truth.

Is It Any Good?

Four stars means SWEET GIRL delivers excellent entertainment. Jason Momoa gives a strong performance as Ray, and the movie keeps viewers engrossed with electrifying turns, gripping action, and a mind-blowing twist.

The film also combines its thriller framework with deep philosophical questions about good people forced into questionable actions. Its drama is soul-stirring rather than merely suspenseful, giving the violence and pursuit of justice emotional consequences.

The Worldview

SWEET GIRL has a strong Christian, moral worldview. The story measures Rachel’s choices against the way she was raised to do the right thing. Ray weeps and cries out to God in distress, and the Cross of Christ is prominently displayed in the family’s home.

The film consistently rebukes evil and greed. It also presents strong family bonds and the redemptive power of love as central goods. Its main moral tension comes from the difference between justice and revenge, especially when people who want to do right are forced into questionable actions.

The film’s Christian perspective is not presented as a complete theological treatment, but it gives the story a meaningful foundation. Its emphasis on redemption reflects the Christian truth that suffering and failure do not have the final word: “nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:39).
