Should You Watch It?

This is an easy film to recommend when you want something sweet, funny, and visually appealing. The story follows a community-minded hairstylist whose big heart challenges a pampered prince, while its strongest message urges viewers to help people who are less fortunate.

The content concerns are present but limited. There are nine “OMG” profanities, some revealing clothing, one scene involving wine, and a minor homosexual subplot. The characters are otherwise modestly dressed, and there are no strong obscenities, smoking, or drug use.

If your family is comfortable discussing those elements, The Royal Treatment is worth watching with older children and up.

The Story

NO SPOILERS — WE KEEP THE SURPRISES

Isabella “Izzy” helps her mother and Italian-speaking grandmother run their family beauty salon in New York City. When Prince Thomas of Lavania needs a hairstylist, Izzy’s honesty and compassion make an immediate impression.

Soon, Izzy and her salon friends, Destiny and Lola, receive an unexpected wedding assignment in Lavania. The royal world proves less polished than it first appears, and both Izzy and Thomas must decide what kind of future they really want.

Is It Any Good?

Four stars means this is a highly enjoyable romantic comedy. The tone is light-hearted and fun, with great imagery supporting the story. Izzy’s sarcasm, warmth, and justice-minded personality give the romance energy, while the royal setting supplies the story’s playful charm.

The film also keeps its central message clear: helping the unfortunate matters. Izzy’s willingness to stop, talk with children, and ask how they are doing gives the story a generous emotional center.

The Worldview

The film presents a strong moral worldview centered on helping others. Izzy’s family is devoutly Roman Catholic, while Gandhi’s principle, “Be the change you want to see in the world,” helps unite the dreams of Izzy and Prince Thomas. The story values compassion, honesty, community, and concern for children and people in need.

The movie’s moral emphasis aligns with biblical compassion, although its worldview also includes that Gandhi-centered principle rather than grounding its message solely in Scripture. A side character’s homosexual relationship and reunion depart from a biblical view of sexuality.

The film’s central longing is for a life shaped by love, justice, and service rather than privilege. Scripture gives that longing a clear direction: “Bear one another’s burdens” (Galatians 6:2).
