I AM ALL GIRLS
The cost of justice is too heavy for most family movie nights.
Should You Watch It?
I AM ALL GIRLS is a well-produced, visceral crime drama based on true events involving human trafficking in South Africa. Its clear plot and strong visual storytelling give weight to a terrible subject, while its central characters pursue justice and sacrifice themselves to free as many children as possible.
That moral seriousness comes with a steep content cost. The film includes lots of strong foul language, intense violence, and heavy implied sexual violence. Its treatment of the subject is nuanced and tactful, but the material remains deeply disturbing.
Adults who can engage with this subject matter may find a powerful story about justice and integrity. For children and young teens, choose something else. The practical answer: WORTH THE TRIP — ADULTS ONLY.
The Story
NO SPOILERS — WE KEEP THE SURPRISESIn South Africa, special crimes investigator Jodie is determined to bring down a global child sex trafficking syndicate. After repeated dead ends and orders to leave the case, she continues investigating with the help of her friend and co-worker Ntombi.
Working outside official channels, Jodie begins uncovering connections that put her life and the lives of those closest to her at risk. Each discovery forces her to face another moral dilemma.
Is It Any Good?
Four stars means this is a highly effective film within its genre. I AM ALL GIRLS is well-produced, with a clear plot and great visual storytelling. Its visceral approach powerfully depicts the tragedy of child sex trafficking without losing sight of its human cost.
The film also handles its heavy subject matter with nuance and tact. Its main characters are passionate about justice and willing to sacrifice themselves to save children. That combination of visual strength, moral seriousness, and emotional weight makes this a compelling crime drama for the right adult viewer.
The Worldview
I AM ALL GIRLS presents a strong moral worldview. Injustice and a lack of integrity have severe consequences, and the film treats the pursuit of justice as a cause worth personal sacrifice. Its central characters are willing to disobey law enforcement orders to free as many children as possible.
At the same time, the film contains no religious elements. Its moral vision is serious, but it is presented through human passion for justice rather than explicit faith. The movie’s heavy subject matter is addressed with tact and nuance, yet dishonesty and a general lack of integrity remain part of its world.
The film’s longing for justice reflects the biblical call to act rightly: “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” (Micah 6:8)
